One day in the 21st century, the order was issued that passions could no longer be experienced together. Ceremonies and rituals had to be watched from the screen. Masses and communions were only allowed at home, in the hospital bed, in one’s own bedroom. The material of this film consists mainly of images and songs from Easter masses and processions in Catholic Europe, mainly in Italy, collected via a group on Facebook administrated by different professional ethnomusicologists and amateurs. They stem from the time of the lockdown, but also from the years before. From this archive, there emerges a visual and sonic poem that captures the collective emotion of this slow week of suffering.
