The global pandemic did not catch everyone unawares. For example, the protagonists of the life hack series by Hendrik Quast & Maika Knoblich. Passionate preppers both, they have become virtually identical in jargon and appearance as a result of years spent shoulder to shoulder getting ready for the apocalypse. Hoarding cat food, building car weasel traps, using hot sauce for self defense—it’s all part of the post-apocalyptic routine in their hobby shop. The artist duo carefully approaches the specific jargon and staged masculinity of angst-ridden lone-wolf warriors, proceeding to dissect it without making light of it in the least.

Bio

Hendrik Quast (1985, Germany) and Maika Knoblich (1986, Germany) are an artist duo who depart from theatrical problems to develop situations, site-specific happenings, and actions that combine and conceptually analyze arts-and-crafts techniques, slapstick comedy, and character impersonation. They are based in Berlin.
